[Cycling] [Group Ride] The Vegan Cyclist 100 + 1 Ride (Wed, 05 Feb 2020 16:00:00 +0000)

1 month 3 weeks ago

Groups in this event:
(C) pace: 38.0 to 42.0 k/mh over 162 km (100.44 miles), 1 rider signed up
Centuries? Those are for omnivores! The Vegan Cyclist levels up: riding a century and another mile. He — real name, Tyler Pearce — calls this ride the “100+1.”

“This is a non-stop* four hours of pedaling, and it SUCKS while you are doing it, but when it's done, you feel so good. It's about pushing the limits of what you think is possible,” says Tyler.

You read that right: a four-hour century. Sure, it will be challenging, but a 25 mph average for four hours should be do-able for many Zwifters. Especially because he’s lapping the 10.5 mile Tick Tock route that includes only 146’ of climbing per lap. Even if you lose the group, you can sit up and hop back on when they come through again.

For most, The Vegan Cyclist needs no introduction. The YouTuber became well-known in the Zwift Community after he went head-to-head against Cameron Jeffers in an uphill race. He’s like a lot of us in the Zwift community: just a person who loves bikes, loves riding, and really, really, really loves getting faster.

Is this race?
No. It’s a personal challenge. Try to hang with the group for the whole ride. If you fall off the back, no biggie: just up and hop back on when they come through again or a bang a U-Turn to get to the group more quickly.

There will be a short break at mile 50. This is an excellent time to stretch your legs, run to the bathroom, or refill water bottles.

*Originally there wasn't going to be a break. We begged him for a one, and he added it.

Unlocking the Kit
Riders will be kitted out in a “Vegan Cyclist” jersey and shorts. If you join the event and ride more than 30 miles, you’ll receive the in-game jersey within a week and be eligible for prizes.

PRIZES
5 Zwift Prize Packs: Zwift water bottle and sticker
3 Vegan Cyclist t-shirts
1 pair of Vegan Cyclist Waterbottles
1 article of Vegan Cyclist kit* (vest, bib, jersey or base layer).
*The prize item may change depending on the winner’s size.

DATES
The 100+1 takes place on the first Wednesday of the month. But there’s one exception: September’s ride is on Tuesday, September 3rd. Check out the event calendar on Zwift.com or the Zwift Companion app.

RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. The Zwift Vegan Cyclist 100+1 Miles Race Monthly Promotion starts 8/7/19 & ends 6/3/20. Open to individuals 18+. Void where prohibited. Sponsor: Zwift, Inc. For Rules, visit https://https://zwift.com/p/the-vegan-cyclist-100-1-miles-ride-tc//

[Cycling] [Group Workout] RAD RACE Workout - VO2 Max 30/30 (Wed, 05 Feb 2020 14:00:00 +0000)

1 month 3 weeks ago

Groups in this event:
(E) pace: 1.0 to 5.0 w/kg for 86 mins, 11 riders signed up
Welcome to the RAD RACE Group Workout Series, 12 weeks of workouts designed by RAD RACE Cycling! With VO2 max intervals and team training sessions, the RAD RACE team aims to put you through your paces and bring your fitness game to new levels.

Designed to keep you in top form over the winter season, this series will increase your maximum speed as we come into spring. Workouts kick off December 4 and continue every following Wednesday for 12 weeks at 7 p.m. CET (with the exception of Christmas Day).

In true RAD fashion, these workouts are about expanding our pack of the raddest riders in the world. Join in. Experience the fun.

WORKOUT

This is the place where the magic happens - where maximum oxygen uptake is required. We try to spend some time at this intensity without getting too deep in the red and pushing lactate values to the maximum.
We try to ride on the thin line between maximum aerobic capacity and maximum anaerobic capacity. The right intensity depends on individual physiology and requires proper testing, somewhere around 120-150% of your ftp.
One marker for the right intensity is the heart rate during a block of 30/30s - the heart rate should rise over the first 1-3 efforts within a 5 min block. When you hit max heart rate in the first or second 30 seconds - intensity is too high! Heart rate should also rise from the first block to the third block. Maximum heart rate of this workout should be below your absolute max heart Rate!

ABOUT GROUP WORKOUTS Zwifters line up in the starting area just like a normal event and once the event starts, workout mode begins. Everyone stays together regardless of power output. That's right, if you're outputting 100W and another Zwifter is outputting 400W you will stay in exactly the same position relative to each other. Only if you stop pedaling and fall 6 meters behind the group will the rubber-banding stop. HELPFUL HINT We highly recommend doing one of the FTP tests as the estimated FTP can be inaccurate and make the difficulty level of the workouts too high for your current fitness level. For more info on FTP go to: https://https://support.zwift.com/en_us/ftp-test-HypJnI_NH/
